When his body arrived at the Wusasa Cemetery, dozens of sympathisers were already at the burial ground to pay their last respect to the corps member.

His family members who were also around could not hide their emotions as they shed tears and cried over his demise as his body was lowered into the grave after a funeral service which was followed by a farewell song and final salute conducted by members of the NYSC.

Speaking after the funeral, Owolabi’s mother said the deceased had promised her he was going to be famous, but she never thought, he was only going to be famous in death.

She said the late Channels TV reporter loved his books. “If you are looking to for him, just go to his room, you will meet him either reading or writing.

“He used to tell us, he would become famous in life, but I never thought he meant to say, he would be famous in death,” the mother said.

Also speaking, the father of the deceased Mr Ayo Owolabi, a deputy director at the ABUTH, said his son who read theatre arts at the University of Ilorin, was fallen in love with journalism when he met his untimely death.
