Mission schools
Governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka

THE governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, on Saturday, promised that his administration will return all mission schools to the original owners if elected as the next helmsman of the state in 2019.

He said this on Saturday at the launch of his seven steps manifesto tagged “Agenda for Greater Ogun State”, in Abeokuta, that all the model schools constructed by the present administration would be converted to Vocational and Technical Education centres.

Isiaka described education as the most powerful tool for social and economic advancement of any state, thereby saying that education from primary to secondary school levels would be free.

The governorship candidate said excellence education remained the bedrock of any society hence the need for his government to provide physical infrastructure in the schools.

He said, “Do we need to talk about the state of our educational institutions and the poor state of learning in our schools? Dilapidated public schools, low morale of tutors I am aware that subventions are no longer given our institutions and no single block had been laid in this schools and where you find any project, it was done by TETFUND or ETF; and you ask, is this the land of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Prof. Wole Soyinka?”.

Isiaka also promised the establishment of Education Trust Funds to support provisions of capital infrastructure while adding that his administration would re-introduce payment of West Africa School Certificate Examination (WAEC) which was cancelled by the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led government.
