Governor Makinde sends commissioner nominee to Oyo Assembly for confirmation
By Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday forwarded the name of a Commissioner nominee to replace Raphael Afonja who was sent packing in August 2020.
Afonja, a Professor was relieved of his appointment as commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport in August this year.
The governor however nominated and forwarded the name of Lawal Ismail Ayansiju for the position
In a letter to the House of Assembly, Governor Makinde said the appointment was to fill the vacuum created in the Ministry since the termination of the appointment of Raphael Afonja, a Professor
Makinde said, “I wish to inform the Honorable House that another personality considered suitable to serve as Honorable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, had been decided in the person of Lawal Ismail Ayansiju. On this basis, Speaker and other Honorable members are, therefore, requested to kindly screen and consider his appointment as the Commissioner ”
In his remarks, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin said the screening of the commissioner-designate would be done before the House goes on recess.
Ogundoyin, thereafter, directed the Commissioner Nominee to appear before the legislature on the 14th of December, 2020 for screening.
